Stannard - I have assigned a large project for all my Gen Biology Students. They were entraped on the 1st day of school into what their topic would be. Each student was asked to think of one question they have always had about Biology. When we returned to the classroom, I explained the project and that the topic of their "scrapbook" was the question they just asked.
EACH STUDENT HAS THE FULL TWO PAGE EXPECTATIONS SHEET FOR THE PROJECT
EACH STUDENT SHOULD HAVE QWRITTEN THE NOV. 6TH DUE DATE ON EVERY WEEK OF THEIR ASSIGNMENT BOOK
EACH STUDENT WILL HAVE RECEIVED TRAINING (AN ONE ON-TOPIC ARTICLE) BY THE END OF CLASS THURS. SEPT. 3D
9/17 CG: HW: WS on organic compounds. Quiz today on organic compounds (2-3). TEST tomo on Chapter 2!
9/18 CG: HW: WS on 2-4 Enzymes. Chapter 2 Review Sheet. Test today on all of Chapter 2
9/22 CG: HW - read 7-1 in text. WS 7-1
9/24 CG: HW read 7-2, finish plant and animal cell organelle ID sheet, WS (1st page) of 7-2.
3-D assigned organelle due Fri. for cell model activity
Quiz on 7-1,2 on Fri.
9/25 CG: cell organelle model due today
Quiz on cell theory & organelles (7-1,2)
plant & animal cell lab due
9/30 Stannard: My General biology Students currently are working on understanding all the organ systems (Chapter 27) and the endocrine system chapter 34.4. Avery good excersize for students is to MAKE NOTE CARDS OF EACH SYSTEM AND ENDOCRINE GLAND WITH THE FUNCTIONS AND DETAILS ON THE BACK. Because of the fact that my general biology class is designed to get most "homework" done in class, these students my not have "work" to do for my class each day, but could greatly benefit from these cards.
9/30 CG: Quiz today on 7-3, Movement through a membrane. Labs to follow. Test tomo on Ch 7.
10/1 CG: Test on Ch 7 Cells. Starch/iodine lab AND Red onion plasmolysis lab due Friday.
10/2 CG Labs due. Test corrections done in class.
10/6 CG Reading Log and WS for 8-1 due today
10/8 CG Students were assigned 8-1 reading in textbook for today.
10/13 CG Students have a photosynthesis lab due today. Several students were absent yesterday due to sports. They should be prepared to make up the Quiz that was given yesterday, today. TEST tomo on Chapter 8: Photosynthesis.
10/14 CG Vocab Review Sheet due as HW in preparation for today's TEST on Chapter 8
11/3 CG agar lab (SA/V) due. HW: read 10-2, and fill in class notes.
Cancer project assigned for Friday.
11/5 CG Quiz today on 10/1,2. Internet lab on mitosis due tomorrow. Cancer poster project due Friday.
11/6 CG Cancer poster project due today. TEST on Chapter 10 on Monday.
11/9 CG Summary and response to Stem Cell Article. Test tomo (Tues. 11/10) on Ch 10
